Rusutsu is a quirky, Disney-style resort that offers almost unparalleled powder and tree skiing. Don’t be surprised to find a singing tree in the entrance way of the Rusutsu hotel and base, it’s all part of the charm.
With over 14 metres of snow a season it’s easy to see why this resort attracts powder seekers from around the world. The resort is made up of 3 mountains - East, West and Isola. Between the three there is terrain suited to all abilities, including gladed areas, wide groomed runs and open powder bowls. Freestyle fans should check out the natural terrain park, home to many a great photoshoot.
The two main accommodation options are Rusutsu Resort Hotel and Westin Rusutsu Hotel. The first is a resort-style hotel with an in-house mall, wave pool, restaurants and bars as well as Disney-like features that will keep the kids entertained for hours. The Westin Rusutsu Hotel is just a monorail ride away from Rusutsu Resort Hotel and offers the most impressive indoor/outdoor onsen in Rusutsu.
Accommodation for peak season (Christmas, January and Chinese New Year) books out far in advance, we’d recommend booking in accommodation 6 months prior to travel.
