Untapped Japanese resorts with 15m of pow!
Niigata is a beautiful city whose northwest faces the Sea of Japan along the Jade Coast.
Home to two of our favourtie Japanese resorts - Myoko Kogen & Lotte Arai. These hidden gems are an absolute dream for powder hounds, with a massive average annual snowfall of 14 & 15 metres respectively! But if pow is not your thing, no need to worry, as both feature fantastic beginner & intermediate areas including great tree skiing and Japan's longest run at Myoko. No matter your skill level, you'll love the uncrowded mountains & short lift lines. At the base of the Myoko you’ll find an authentic village, steeped in Japanese tradition, with Onsens (hot springs) and Izakayas (Japanese pubs) scattered throughout. Lotte Arai reopened - after being closed for 10 years - and renewed in 2017 as a fresh, luxurious ski resort with loads of non-ski activities and a vibrant village life.
North of Tokyo, Niigata is easily accessible by bullet train. The journey takes about 4-5 hours. There are also flights and buses to Niigata from other major cities.
